The tenuate Dospan Company, which produces dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a component of male hair loss, has been around for more than a century. The original product was derived from the Dioscorea species of the same name. Tenuate Dospan, however, has now been replaced by its generic version Dihydrotestosterone or DHT.
As its name implies, tenuate Dospan is designed to inhibit the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Testosterone and DHT are natural substances produced by male and female sex hormones. In men, the hormone testosterone is primarily produced by the testes while in women it is secreted by ovaries. When testosterone levels rise, hair follicles produce more DHT, a hormone that binds to hair follicles and inhibits their production.
Although many products have been developed to combat the effects of DHT, no product has proven as effective as tenuate Dospan. The tenuate Dospan Company has been in business since 1916, but the results of its hair loss treatment products have been largely positive. Its original product was a topical solution containing ingredients such as Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. This compound is not very soluble in water, so a gel was used on the scalp to promote the growth of hair.
The success of tenuate Dospan products as a treatment for hair loss has led to many variations on this formula. The company has developed products with Dihydrotestosterone inhibitors such as Minoxidil and Dihydrotestosterone Inhibitors. These compounds inhibit DHT production and increase levels of the hair-producing hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
A number of research studies have shown that Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) inhibitors can improve hair growth in men. Men who are taking these drugs often report greater levels of growth than those taking their medications without inhibitors. A number of studies also show that Dihydrotestosterone inhibitors are useful in treating and preventing male pattern baldness. One study showed that a formulation of the tenuate Dospan Company's product combined with a prescription medication called finasteride, which is used to treat hair loss by inhibiting the enzyme 5 alpha-hair-reductase, resulted in significantly less hair loss and increased growth.
Dihydrotestosterone inhibitors also have some other benefits over topical solutions. They may help prevent future hair loss because they delay the rate at which the hair begins to fall off and they help protect healthy follicles by keeping them healthy. Some Dihydrotestosterone inhibitors are available with other ingredients, including Minoxidil, which has been shown to help block DHT from binding to the follicle's receptors.
